RENFREW NET to provide them with a high-speed Internet link we have been getting a lot of calls asking what our position is regarding expansion into rural communities" stated Barry Williams, VP Finance & Admin. " Simply put, yes we are going to expand into the rural communities, we have set ourselves a very aggressive expansion program over the next 6 months to bring service to at least 10 communities"."It is my understanding that the regular carriers are talking about bringing in what they call high-speed, 128k, 512k or T1 1.54Mb service in, this is five year old technology. What we are talking about is state of the art wireless technology, real high-speed 2Mb or 5Mb, going up to 10Mb and 20Mb within 18 months. We feel that we should be able to do it at about half the cost that they will be seeking. We are also looking at very special rates for the hospitals and high schools throughout the Valley so that they can enjoy the same speed levels as the city people".
