Area's largest high-speed wireless network extends to communities along corridor to Brockville.
OTTAWA, Canada - November 27, 2000 - CDS/PROMETHEUS (CDSP) and Storm Internet Services (Storm), both subsidiaries of International Datacasting Corporation, and operators of the largest high-speed wireless Internet services network in Eastern Ontario, announced that they have started construction of a new 45Mb backbone corridor to Brockville, ON.
This new corridor will bring two-way symmetrical high-speed wireless Internet service to the southwestern part of Eastern Ontario, with service to Almonte, Brockville, Carleton Place, Chesterville, Kemptville, Perth, Port Elmsley, Toledo, Smith Falls, Richmond and Winchester.
Barry Williams, President & CEO of CDSP & Storm, said, "We are very pleased to begin the rollout at this time. This expansion allows us to bring two-way, high-speed services to many areas that presently rely on low-speed dialup service. We have been working hard on the design and deployment logistics to make sure that this network is rock solid and completely secure. The very strong support from our parent company, International Datacasting, has permitted us to put this corridor in place sooner than planned and we expect service to be operational within the next couple of months.".
The addition of the new backbone and distribution corridors is part of a planned expansion to build a network that reaches more than 25,000-sq. km and encompasses all of Eastern Ontario.
